DANGER DON'T TOUCH
If you discover any of the explosive devices below: Do not touch - Mark the position - Report it to the Police
At Plymouth at War we do not condone tampering with, or moving any military ordnance from yesteryear.
This poster was printed by Her Majesty's Stationary Office in the early 1950's. A large amount of ordnance lay forgotten or undiscovered around Great Britain after World War Two. All the ordnance displayed on this poster was used by Allied Forces during the war. Much of it was discarded or left behind after military exercises had finished - like the practice DDay landings at Slapton Sands.
Additionally, several of these explosive devices were widely used by British Home Guard and the secretive Auxiliary Units, which were stationed all over the United Kingdom. Much of their ordnance was deliberately hidden in anticipation of a German invasion - never to be rediscovered.
